Iben Hjejle ❋1971

ben Hjejle is a graduate of the Danish National School of Performing Arts (1996). She rose to prominence in the late 1990s with Søren Kragh-Jacobsen's Mifune's Last Song (Mifunes sidste sang, 1999), which won the Silver Bear – Special Jury Prize at the Berlin International Film Festival, where she received an Honourable Mention. She followed it with Anders Thomas Jensen's Flickering Lights (2000) and gained international attention for her role opposite John Cusack in High Fidelity (2000). On television, Hjejle has appeared in a range of Danish series, including Klovn (2005–2025), Dicte (2013–2016), Take Care (2025) and Secrets (Den gode stemning, 2025), in which she stars opposite Pilou Asbæk.

In theatre, Hjejle received Teaterpokalen and a Reumert Award in 2024 for her performance in The Doctor at Folketeatret.

In 2026, she was awarded the Lauritzen Prize, an honorary award recognising her contribution to Danish acting.
